Speaker Cabinets

NOTE: in all cases, A = angled front, B = bottom (straight front)

1960A or 1960B  "Lead"

These 300 watt, stereo/mono 4x12”, birch ply, UK made cabinets produce a loud, well-focused and uncluttered sound with a tight, full low end and a crisp, bright top. It projects well across the guitar's entire tonal range and its clarity makes it ideal for players who like using a fair amount of effects. The 1960 “Lead” cabs can be used in mono (16 or 4 ohms) or stereo (8 ohms). The 1960 b (bottom) does sound like it has a little less high end and and a little more low end "punch" although the speakers are identical. In stereo mode each pair of speakers is wired for 8 ohms and you use the two inputs in the back of the cabinet. There is a switch on the jack plate to change to mono mode. Then you can plug into either the 4 ohm input on the left (for use by itself) or the 16 ohm input on the right (for use in a stack).  The 1960A's all-around versatility and relatively "uncolored" nature makes this the best selling cabinet of all time.

1960AV/1960BV (Vintage)

The UK made, birch ply 1960AV and BV 4x12” cabinets have a thick, warm sound with a fat, well-defined midrange and a rounded high end that sparkles nicely while not being overly bright. They also have a good low end "chunk" that doesn’t get "boomy." Each 1960 “Vintage” cab can be used in mono (16 or 4 ohms) or stereo (8 ohms). Modern metal "crunch" masters such as James Hetfield (Metallica), Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) and Dino Cazares (Fear Factory)...all use 1960BV cabs

Loaded with Marshall/Celestion "Vintage", 70-watt, 16 ohm speakers

1960AC/1960BC (Classic) and 1960AX/1960BX

UK made, birch ply, 100-watt, 16 ohm, mono 4x12” cabinets. Loaded with Greenback speakers which have a very distinctive sound with a fast, snappy response that adds detail and dynamics to both clean and distorted playing. When these speakers are driven really hard, they start to break up and get very warm and full.

For a vintage/Hendrix type tone, Greenbacks are the way to go. Due to the fact that a 100W Marshall amp will kick out far more than 100 Watts when cranked to the max, we do NOT recommend a 100W head is used with a 1960AC or BX as a half stack, if the head is going to be turned up to "eleven!" (unless a Powerbrake is being used, of course).  The 1960AC, BC and AX, BX cabinets are mono only.

The “C” cabs sport black grille cloth, while the “X” cabinets have check grille for an authentic vintage look.

Loaded with Celestion G12M, 25-watt, 16 ohm “Greenback” speakers

1960TV

This 100 watt, mono, 16 ohm cabinet is 3 inches taller than a standard 1960A 4x12 cabinet which results in well defined mid range and a lowered resonant frequency for more prominent lows.  Although not a reissue (this cabinet was never offered in the past) this cab recreates the classic look and tones of yesteryear.

TSLC212
