Create CD’s without external equipment

Saving your creations are important. The D1600mkII's bay system accommodates affordable, commercially available IDE hard disks to you can easily exchange drives when switching between different projects. For this reason the D1600mkII features a CD-R/RW-2 bay that allows you to install a CD drive inside the case. The D1600mkII includes the CDRW-2 to create your own CDs. This drive can be used to backup/restore data, to create audio CDs, even to playback and record directly from an audio CD.

TouchView makes getting around very easy.

Digital wave form editing (just like on a computer) is easy to do.

Locate the part that you want to edit - by ear and visually at the same time.

User removable hard drive and internal CDR/W drive.

Release the two clips and the front comes off, exposing the two drive bays.

Unscrew the two screws that hold each bay in place. Use the quick-release lever to remove the drive.

Swap the internal 40 gig drive with another standard IDE drive for even more storage.

Do you want even more hard disk space?

The D1600mkII comes with a HDD 40G 3.5 inch 40 Gbyte hard drive yielding up to 7.74 hours*, at 16 bit recording, using all 16 tracks (62 hours of recording time, at 16 bit recording/playback, 1 track).

You can replace the internal drive with a 80, 100 or bigger drive. I have been told that the limit is one terabyte (1,000 gig).

* The D1600mkII allows 8 track simultaneous recording / 16 track simultaneous playback for 16 bit recording/playback, or 4 track simultaneous recording / 8 track simultaneous playback for 24 bit recording/playback.

High-performance digital mixer section

The D1600mkII features a 24 channel, 8 bus digital mixer with sixteen 60 mm faders, which let you make smooth, precise level adjustments. The Pairing function allows adjacent channels to be used as a stereo pair, for up to 8 mono plus 4 stereo tracks. A variety of audio sources can be connected directly, ranging from mic level to a +16 dBu level. To match the quality of the full-digital processing, all analog inputs use high-performance balanced preamps. The D1600mkII provides four XLR jacks with high-quality mic preamps and +48V phantom power, so condenser mics can be connected directly to the D1600mkII. All phone type inputs are balanced TRS jacks, and a dedicated guitar input jack is also provided. The SCSI port has been replaced with a USB port for sending files to a computer.
