The first units chosen for handwired re-issue are amongst the most recorded amplifiers ever made and for many artists represent the ultimate in guitar tone. During development these amplifiers have received unparalleled attention from 'artists in the know'. The Marshall team of designers has gone to enormous lengths to seek out and/or reproduce all of the original components and materials used, as well as revisiting the original methods of construction employed in the 1960s and '70s. Production techniques at Marshall factory have been honed and in particular the handwired matrix boards can truly boast the tag 'point-to-point perfection'. Their primary objective has been to achieve maximum authenticity in terms of components, circuitry, constructional methods, materials, specifications, aesthetics,   2061X 18 watt head   signal path, performance, tonal characteristics and feel. The 2061CX  cabinet     engineers were delighted to say that their suppliers were equally as exacting in their tasks - none more so than Dagnall Transformers and Celestion Speakers. The main characteristic that all these amps share is their simplicity of operation and superb natural valve tone. Achieving the beautifully organic and vibrant tone, which is the trademark of these models, can only be done in one way - crank 'em up! The result is sweetly distorted, harmonically rich, thick, musical tones resulting from the power valves being overdriven.

"18 Watts of Whoop Ass"

Quote from the ToneQuest Report Magazine

1974X (for a bigger picture)

The 1974X is an all-valve, 18 Watt, two-channel, 1x12" combo with valve driven tremolo. The original versions of this wonderful sounding amplifier were produced between the years 1966 and 1968 and are now extremely rare and much sought after. The 1974X is an extremely straightforward amplifier. Channel 1 (the non-tremolo channel) only boasts two, self-explanatory controls: Volume and Tone; while Channel 2, the Tremolo Channel, boasts four - namely Volume and Tone, plus Speed and Intensity for the valve driven tremolo circuit. Our proprietary, re-issued and 'aged' 20 Watt Celestion speaker also contributes to the combo's unique, punchy yet smooth sound. As a result, when 'cranked' the 1974X is incredibly touch sensitive, cleaning up or, if desired, sitting right on the edge of distortion when the guitar's volume is turned down. It responds well to picking dynamics too, 'sagging' nicely when you play like you really mean it and, once again, cleaning up as you pull back on your picking attack.

1974CX (for a bigger picture)

The 1974CX is a 1x12", 20 Watt, extension speaker cabinet designed for use with the 1974X combo, using the same proprietary 'aged' Celestion speaker as the combo. The speaker is handwired to the mono jack connector using heavy grade wire and the cabinet is built to our traditional high standards. It is a perfect match sonically and cosmetically.

2061X Head

The 2061X is a cathode-biased, all-valve, 20 Watt, two-channel head. Originally produced between the years 1967 and 1973 these toneful amplifiers are now highly collectable. The 2061X's front panel layout is simple yet versatile, with both of its channels having only a Volume and Tone control each. Like all Marshall, all-valve amplifiers, the 2061X sounds at its very best when turned up full - and because of its relatively low wattage this can be done at ear friendly volumes, making it a wonderful recording tool. Unlike its 18 Watt predecessors which boasted an EZ81 rectifier, the 2061X features a solid-state, silicon diode rectifying device and is a much more aggressive and surprisingly modern sounding amplifier, while still possessing that unmistakable and highly desirable, low-wattage, vintage, all valve tone.

2061CX 2X12 Cabinet

The 2061CX is a 2x12", 60 Watt, extension speaker cabinet designed for use with the 2061X head. The two Celestion G12H-30 speakers deliver warmth and full vintage tone. The speakers are handwired to the mono jack connector using heavy grade wire and the large sized cabinet is built to our traditional high standards. Used in conjunction with the 2061X 20W head, the sound is amongst the richest and complex in the whole Marshall catalogue.

1959HW 100 Super Lead Plexi

"The 100 Watt 'Plexi' head is considered by many to be the definitive rock amp and is the main reason artists started dubbing Marshall as 'the sound of rock' back in the late '60s," states Marshall's U.S. Product Manager, Nick Bowcott.

The so-called 'Plexi' era (late 1965 to July 1969) was named because of the Plexiglas material used on the model 1959's front panel. It ended when the company changed its front panel material from Plexiglas to brushed aluminum. During this relatively short period, many small but often significant circuit changes were made and the majority of them were in response to artists continually asking for the amps to be more aggressive sounding. After exhaustive research tracking the exact timeline of these changes and also finding many untouched examples of them, a pre-July 1969 SL/A head was chosen as being 'the one' to duplicate.

As with every amp in Marshall's Handwired series, all of the original components and materials were used or reproduced in the 1959HW, and the methods of construction employed in the late 1960s were revisited too. Both transformers -- output and power -- have been meticulously recreated by Dagnall Electronics to duplicate the electrical performance and characteristics of the originals while satisfying stringent modern safety legislations. As a result of this attention to detail, the 1959HW's handwired tag-board lives up to the slogan, 'Point-to-Point Perfection'."

1959HW Head. This handwired reissue, all-valve head (3 x ECC83/12AX7 in the preamp, 4 x EL34s in power amp) features two channels, I and II (labeled 'High Treble' and 'Normal' respectively in later renditions of the original 1959 model due to the differences in their voicing), each with two inputs -- high sensitivity and low sensitivity. Both channels share tone shaping controls for Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence

1960AHW - 1960BHW

1960AHW Cabinet. An angled-front, 120 Watt, 16 Ohm mono 4x12" cabinet featuring salt ‘n’ pepper grille cloth, metal handles, and loaded with the bass version of Celestion’s reissue of the G12H30 speaker. 1960BHW Cabinet. Same as 1960AHW but with a straight-front.

The Jimi Hendrix Stack is sold as a set consisting of the Super 100JH head, the angled 1982AJH 4x12" cabinet and the extra-tall, straight-fronted 1982BJH 4x12" cabinet. Only 200 will be available in the US. The original versions of this iconic, tall, pinstriped stack were built in 1966 and the Super 100 head was the immediate successor to Marshall’s first ever 100 Watt head — the dual output transformer JTM45/100, also currently available as the limited edition handwired 40th Anniversary Stack. Very Limited availability.

40th Anniversary Stack In honor of Marshall's 40th anniversary (1962-2002), there will be a limited run of the much sought after 100 watt full stack like the one Peter Townsend asked Jim Marshall to build for him and his use in The Who.

The sound and aesthetics of this head and matching cabinets have been preserved, right down to the original vinyl covering, grille cloth and front panel controls.
