Following the KAOSS PAD entrancer audio/video effect processor that has
earned a major following with VJs and video artists for its intuitive
touchpad interface, Korg now unleashes another bombshell --- the krossfour,
a video mixer/switcher with up to four inputs. Packed into a compact body,
its simple layout is optimised for realtime operation, giving you
intuitive and free control over any type of video source. Video mixing and
switching effects that are not possible with the KAOSS PAD entrancer alone
now become possible when used together with the krossfour.
Video mixer/switcher with four-input video selector
The krossfour is a four-input video mixer/switcher that lets you input and
freely mix video from sources such as DVD, video deck, video camera, or
computer. Its simple layout ensures superb operability in any situation,
from VJ work to video performance or video editing.
Use the crossfader to create musically appropriate
video expressions
In VJ work or video performance, you can use the crossfader to easily
control video sources in musically appropriate ways. You can mix using one
of four different fader curves. "Normal" curve gradually mixes between
channels, "No Mix" transitions by shrinking (without mixing) the channel
as you move toward the center, "Center Mix" mixes the channels only in the
center, and "Switcher" switches the channels in the center.
You can change between these patterns to produce a wide range of video
performances. The crossfader features a blue LED indicator for excellent
visibility even in dimly lit clubs.
Frame synchronizer with built-in TBC
The frame synchronizer with built-in TBC (Time Base Corrector) converts
signals played back from an analog VTR etc. into stable,
digitally-synchronized images, ensuring smooth and high-quality mixing.
Chroma Key and Luminance Key compositing effects
The krossfour also lets you create black or white backgrounds and provides
chroma key functionality for removing the blue background portion of an
image and replacing it with a different background image. The same process
can be performed for luminance levels as well, removing portions of a
specified brightness (luminance) and replacing them with a background
image. There's also a HOLD switch that lets you freeze the input image.
This is great for special effects such superimposing an object or person
on a different background.
Monitor output for easy monitoring of input
images
As a convenience for realtime video performance, the krossfour provides a
monitor out connector in addition to the main output normally used to send
the mixed video signal to a projector etc. The monitor output can be used
to audition a video input source before mixing, or as a sub-output for the
mixed video signal.
